Personal Trainer

Personal Training is a science-based educational foundation that provides an understanding of the fundamentals of exercise science, clinical nutrition, and human anatomy and physiology. Additionally, techniques in cardiorespiratory, muscular strength/muscular endurance, and flexibility fitness will be covered.

•     High school diploma or equivalent

•     COMPASS Placement Test scores:

Pre-algebra 54 or above and Algebra 0-45

OR minimum grade of "C" in MAT 032

Writing 70 or above OR minimum grade of "C" in ENG 032 Reading 81 or above OR minimum grade of "C'' in RDG 100

OR

ACCUPLACER Test scores:

    Arithmetic >=90 Elementary Algebra 57-89 OR minimum grade of “C” in MAT 032

    Sentence Skills >=75 OR minimum grade of “C” in ENG 032

    Reading Comp. 84-94 OR minimum grade of “C” in RDG 100

PERSONAL TRAINER GT DEGREE

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Scholarship funding for the Personal Trainer Certificate program is made possible possibly by the York Technical College Foundation, while the program is pending federal funding eligibility by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). A student may be eligible to receive up to $3,000 per semester from the York Technical College Foundation for the program.

To be eligible for funding, student must complete the 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process including, but not limited to, filing the FAFSA on or before registration, completing all necessary forms and responding to financial aid requests for information.

Student must be a resident of the State of South Carolina (eligible for in-state tuition) and enroll in a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester.

Once the program is approved by USDOE, student must agree to utilize federal aid funds (if applicable) in the immediate semester for which federal aid is available and York Technical College Foundation funding will cease. Student must comply with the aforementioned requirements for eligibility for Foundation funding. Funds received will not be in excess of tuition for the programs indicated or generate a refund.
