AHS 144 Phlebotomy Practicum

This course provides a detailed study and practice of phlebotomy procedures utilized in hospital settings, clinical facilities and physicians' offices. It consists of 40 hours of theory and 120 hours of clinical experience. Upon successful completion, the student is able to sit for the ASCP Board of Certification exam.

  • 5.0 Credit hour course - offered in Summer semester at Rock Hill and Spring semester Kershaw campus
  • Admission Requirements - High School Diploma or GED
  • Limited enrollment - This program has limited enrollment. You must go to admissions to be placed on the wait list. There is a $25 nonrefundable wait list fee.

Other requirements:

  1. Complete the Student Health Form a. Physical exam performed within the 3 months prior to class b. updated immunizations including recent PPD (TB test) c. required titers for MMR and chicken pox
  2. Provide evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination or written declination
  3. Provide evidence of current health insurance and liability insurance
  4. Criminal background check and drug screen are required. Fees for these will be paid by the student
  5. Current CPR certification
