Lancaster Works, York Tech Partnership
Creates 115 Scholarship Opportunities for New Manufacturing Training Program
ROCK HILL, SC —
Lancaster Works, an initiative of the Carolinas Literacy Network, in
conjunction with York Technical College is striving to enhance
workforce development with the start of a new six week manufacturing
training program. With this new partnership, York Tech is in receipt
of scholarships to train up to 115 area candidates.
Led by York Tech’s Corporate and

investment in the region’s workforce and economic development efforts,
specifically in the manufacturing space. These advanced manufacturing
and industrial trade programs are focused on preparing students for
careers in the highly automated and technical manufacturing
environments of the 21st Century.
“We’re excited about the
impact the South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) will have
on putting people back to work. A highly trained, educated and skilled
workforce will continue to keep York, Chester and Lancaster Counties
competitive in attracting high-paying STEM jobs and employers to our
service area,” Russell said.
Those who complete the program
will receive a Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC)
Certification, which sets the tone for a curriculum that provides
industry-led training and assessment focused on the core skills and
