Fort Mill 8th Graders to Explore Opportunities at York Technical College

April 28, 2011

ROCK HILLóOn Friday, April 29, York Technical College will host 260 eighth graders from Gold Hill Middle school for an event designed to give the students a taste of college. The event will provide the students with first-hand experience of the many opportunities the college provides and raise awareness of college expectations and the importance of early planning and preparation.

The students will be on campus from approximately 9:30 a.m. until noon.

Students will explore two instructional programs based on their individualized career assessment results. During tours of these programs, students will be met by department chairs and other faculty members who will guide them through interactive presentations and/or hands-on demonstrations to help them gain a better understanding of career opportunities associated with those programs and how to prepare for good careers.

For more information about Friday's event, contact Carrie Eversole at (803) 981-7304 or ceversole@yorktech.edu or Lydia Moore at (803) 981-7724 or lmoore@yorktech.edu
