William C. Kimbrell Memorial Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Scholarships

ROCK HILL—On Monday, May 10, the York Technical College Foundation will host the William C. Kimbrell Memorial Golf Tournament to raise money for scholarships for some of the college’s most promising students with financial needs.

This year's event will honor the vision and energy of long-time Foundation board member Bill Kimbrell. Kimbrell joined the college's board in 1992 and served until his death last year. Among his many projects were the previous 13 golf marathons, beginning in 1994, raising more than $850,000 for scholarships.

The William C. Kimbrell Memorial Golf Tournament will take place at Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill. It will honor Kimbrell's memory and celebrate his love for golf and for supporting student success through scholarships. Thirty-two teams of golfers, including business and community leaders, will begin play at 12:30 p.m.

The media is encouraged to meet the participants at 12:15 p.m., just prior to the shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A reception for the golfers will follow play at 5:30 p.m.

For more information, contact Dr. Ed Duffy at (803) 327-8012 or eduffy@yorktech.edu.
