York Technical College to Celebrate Constitution Day on September 15

ROCK HILLYork Technical College will host a day-long Constitution Day celebration on Thursday, September 15. The free event will take place from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Anne Springs Close Library. Everyone is invited to attend.

The celebration will include an open reading of the Constitution by York Tech faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Martha Macdonald will perform a reenactment depicting Abigail Shays, the wife of Daniel Shays, who led Shays Rebellion (a precursor to the writing of the U.S. Constitution). There will also be items related to the Constitution on display as well as the entries of an online student poster contest. Artwork will also be on display from the children of the York Technical College Child Development Center.

Constitution-related movies will be playing throughout the day and refreshments will be served.

8 a.m. Opening program in the library
8:30 a.m. 7 p.m. Constitution replica, displays, movies, and much more
11 a.m. 12 p.m. Live reenactment of historical events
12 p.m. 1:30 Open reading of the Constitution
2:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. Live reenactment of historical events
5 p.m. 6:30 p.m. Open reading of the Constitution
6:30 p.m. 7 p.m. Closing program in the library
