  • President Greg F. Rutherford, Ph.D.

       

    Dr. Greg Rutherford is serving his eighth year as President of York Technical College, which serves the counties of York, Chester, and Lancaster in South Carolina. Prior to joining the College, he worked in the North Carolina Community College System for 19 years, where he was Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development at Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina. Dr. Rutherford received his Associate’s degree from A-B Technical Community College in Asheville and went on to obtain his B.S. in management from UNC-Asheville, M.B.A. from Western Carolina University and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin where he completed the Community College Leadership Program. In 2009, Dr. Rutherford was recognized as a distinguished graduate of the Community College Leadership Program by the University of Texas at Austin.

    Currently, Dr. Rutherford serves as a member of several area boards, including York County Economic Development Board and Planning Committee, York County Regional Chamber Board of Directors and Government Relations Task Force, Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation Board and Finance Committee, Rock Hill Community Builders, Catawba Council of Governments, Catawba Regional Education Center, Chester Development Association Board and Executive Committee, and the Charlotte Area Education Consortium Board. He serves as an Ex-Officio member of the South Carolina Technical Education Association Board and is Chair of the South Carolina Technical College System Council of Presidents. He is also a member of the York, Clover, York County Regional, Lake Wylie, Chester, and Lancaster County Chambers and the Rock Hill Rotary Club. Nationally, Dr. Rutherford serves on the Trans-Atlantic Technology and Training Alliance where he has presented at their Annual Conference in Denmark.

    Dr. Rutherford is highly involved in economic development of the region and has a passion for the mission of York technical College, Building the Community through Maximizing Student Success.
