For the Spring 2017 semester, York Technical College is offering up to $2,500 in scholarship funds to eligible students who plan to take at least six credit hours at one its off-campus centers in Chester or Indian Land.

Scholarships are available to Chester County residents who are interested in taking classes at the Chester Center and have the option of taking credit courses in university transfer, welding and general education program requirements.  Those interested in completing a career-ready certification through the College’s Corporate and Continuing Education division can choose from the following programs: Certified Logistics Associate, Certified Microsoft Office Specialist, Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Productions Technician, Heavy Equipment and Lineworker.

A generous portion of the Chester scholarship funds are provided by a Duke Energy Foundation grant to ensure Chester county residents have the opportunity to continue their education by taking courses that will benefit their future and the community at large. Chester county has projected double digit job growth which will result in a need for a highly skilled and educated workforce York Tech plays a vital role in helping prepare and train for.

“We are fortunate to be able to make such an investment in the Chester community,” stated Rick Jiran, Vice President for Community Relations at Duke Energy -  South Carolina and York Technical College Foundation Board member. “In order to sustain and grow Chester county through the attraction and retention of new and current industries, we must continue to provide funding that supports educational opportunities that will improve workforce development.”

Additionally, scholarships are available for individuals interested in enrolling at the College’s Indian Land center. The Indian Land Center is home to the Advanced Information Technology Institute (AITI) which exclusively offers programs that provide advanced training for high demand careers in IT. The Cisco Network Operations Certificate and the Advanced Network Security Certificate will be offered Spring 2017 with special scholarships provided to eligible applicants. 

The Indian Land Center will also offer University Transfer courses as well as general education program requirements. Corporate and Continuing Education career training programs offered will be the Foundations of Leadership and SHRM Essentials for HR Management.

York Tech brings quality higher-education opportunities to residents of York, Chester and Lancaster counties. In an effort to best serve individuals who work and live in Chester and Lancaster, York Tech has off-campus centers conveniently located in high traffic areas of these counties, in addition to the main campus in Rock Hill.  These centers seek to contribute to the economic growth of the region by responding to the respective county's education and workforce-training needs.
